COMBATING DOMESTIC and TRANSNATIONAL TERRORISM

SUMMARY

 

The Combating Domestic and Transnational Terrorism Course is a one-week workshop for criminal investigators and supervisors offered by the Diplomatic Security Service’s Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program.   The course will provide the participants an interactive learning opportunity that focuses on enhancing investigative and analytical skills.  The theme of the course will be “relationship building” and “perseverance”.   Participants will discuss terrorist organizations and methods and examine the importance of information and resource sharing.  The importance of highly trained investigative and analytical personnel to the deterrence, identification, and apprehension of terrorists will also be examined.

 

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 

  1. Describe how terrorist organizations operate; tactics used by terrorists; the infrastructure of terrorist organizations and their financial endeavors.

 

  1. Recognize major terrorist organizations operating in their countries, regionally, and internationally.

 

  1. Realize the value and benefits of sharing information and resources with other law enforcement organizations.

 

  1. Recognize the importance of investigative and analytical skills to deter, respond, and investigate terrorist acts and organizations.
