Narcotics Unit Commander Course

Summary

The Narcotics Unit Commander Course is designed to enhance the capabilities of police officials assigned to supervise drug enforcement units with special emphasis on clandestine laboratory investigative units. The emphasis will be on risk management, operational planning and officer safety from the perspective of a unit commander.

Course Objectives:

· Participants will learn risk management of informants, arrests and drug raids.

· Participants will be conversant with management of undercover operations.

· Participants will be able to define demand reduction.

· Participants will understand the operational planning of narcotics investigations.

· Participants will be exposed to establishing and supervising a clandestine laboratory unit.

· Participants will become acquainted with clandestine laboratory hazard assessments, site control and chemical handling.
